One of the most fantastic gifts om time has to offer to the greater yoga community is the incredible group of teachers on our schedule every day!
In celebration of our phenomenal kula, om time is implementing Teacher of the Month. Each month, we have the honor of recognizing one or two of our omies for their whole-hearted contribution to the om time Kula.
As our inaugural celebration for the month of November, om time is thrilled to recognize Sky Van Horn and Joyce Miyagishima. As a way of sharing with you our great appreciation, each of their regularly scheduled classes will be offered at a $10 drop-in rate for November!

Sky Van Horn is a Flow instructor at om time Boulder. For a long time, he put off the suggestion of yoga, but finally nearly ten years ago was dragged into a class. Within a year, Sky was taking his first teacher training, and he has been teaching ever since, studying with numerous teachers from Yoga Motion to Baron Baptiste.
Sky is very thoughtful when asked in what way he has most benefited from yoga – and not because of a lack of response. What yoga has mostly brought for Sky has been a realization that there is a continual sense of creation of life on all levels; from physical to emotional to mental. A full-time massage therapist specializing in Asian bodywork, Sky’s classes are deeply enriched with his knowledge of the body. And with a yoga teacher who also teaches Thai Yoga Massage, some yummy physical adjustments go without saying!
Through his yoga practice, Sky has found a sense of empowerment, a series of personal break-throughs, and endless possibilities for his life. What he most hopes to accomplish as a teacher is to hold a space for students where endless possibilities can take place – whether it’s as simple as “I want to find more flexibility,” or “I want to create a sense of calm.” Sky also teaches an internal system of martial arts called Tai Tzu Chang Chuan – a Tai Chi Kung Fu. The connection between the mind, body, and soul is something very intriguing to him.
Sky’s Foundations of Flow classes are a perfect way for a newer student to step into a physical practice – not only because of his very well-trained background, but also because it’s nearly impossible not to fall in love with his genuine smile and the obvious sense that he WANTS to help guide his students into a thoughtful yoga practice.

Joyce first came to develop a yoga practice in 1975, drawn as a dancer to the body movement it provided. When she stepped back into a more continued practice fifteen years later, it was because of stress. “I really wanted to share what all I had been offered to the other local Coloradoans,” Joyce says – and with all the offerings she found at om time, teaching seemed the obvious next step.
What makes Joyce’s classes so sweet is the way she draws up an inspiration to open up and connect to those spaces within them that make the students’ hearts expand – teaching that the sense of stepping out and looking across the Grand Canyon or standing in front of a masterpiece at the art museum and being caught breathless in wonderment and awe is a space that continually exists within us. Joyce continues to teach in a way that reminds us that we can find that endless sense of wonder within our OWN HEART from a place as simple as on our very own mat.
Through yoga, Joyce has found the impact of the teachings in all aspects of her life, from work, relationships, family, friends… It is a continual opportunity to open the door and step into that threshold of the world that sits before you. Life is not necessarily about going through that threshold to Joyce, but rather about the practice of the process and connection.
Joyce recently completed her Anusara Inspired status and is a darling Anjali Restorative instructor. While the two styles are very different, Joyce brings the same sweet sense of stepping into your own heart through the journey she takes you on. She is one of the dearest of our omies, and if you have yet to step into one of her classes, I must insist you do so!
